Everybody asks me, 'Why are you called The Sleeping Storyteller ... well, I'll tell you ... but you might want to sit down first. As curious as it may seem, I write stories in my sleep! Yes, that's right, your read that correctly. I was as surprised as you are when I first found out. You see, I have been a writer all my life, but I used to put my poems and songs to music. I have done this since I was very young, but then 3 years ago, I woke up and had become suddenly hearing impaired by hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis. These conditions make me have lots of ringing, whizzing and whirring noises in my head which are VERY loud, especially at night because I have to take my hearing aids off. As a result, I don't really get into a deep sleep like you do and I have a lot of twilight hours when I am tossing and turning. Then one day, I woke up and I noticed that the voice recorder of my mobile phone was flashing at the side of my bed. When I looked at it, to my great surprise, I had been recording stories and poems onto my phone in the middle of the night, without even realising it! Off course, I talked to the Doctor about this, who told me that for people like me, who don't get into deep sleep, they can sometimes sleep walk and talk and not even know that they have done it. So, I had become a Sleeping Storyteller. When I typed up the stories, they were so mindful and caring that I began sharing them at my workshops, with friends, at the local hospice, in schools and I found that people of all ages, loved them. I feel as though my soul sends me these little gems, to soothe me, to help me heal. And now, I share them with you, so that without is costing the Earth, you can share them as lovely, little gifts with your friends and the people you care about.
